Put the commands to start up your modem at the end of the file /etc/rc.d/rc.local and they will be run at boot time.

Loading drivers at Startup In Mandrake 10(reply)

dear tredegar,
i added the following lines at the end of the rd.local file
modprobe slamr
/usr/sbin/slmodemd --country=INDIA /dev/slamr0
and rebooted the computer...
when i tried to connect using kppp it said , modem not found!
when enter the 2 lines in the root terminal console, and use kppp after minimizing the console it works...
please advice...
thanks

Strange. I do not understand why it doesn't work.
Try looking at /var/log/messages to see if there is a helpful error message relating to slamr or slmodemd.
