LiveDVD will not run
Hi
when I try to boot from Sabayon 3.3 DVD after the POST there is a longer delay than normal and across the bottom of the screen is... ISOLINUX 3.11 Debian-2006-03-16 Copyright (C) 1994-2005 H.Peter ANVIN Loading..... The strange thing about that is Sabayon is Gentoo not Debian. After initializing kernel and going to verbose mode the following is the result :- [ 41.621060] ibm_acpi: ec object not found [ 50.513092] specify port [ 50.517605] powernow-k8:BIOS error - no PSB or ACPI _PSS objects >> Loading modules :: Scanning for ehci-hcd...ehci-hcd loaded. :: Scanning for ehci-hcd...uhci-hcd loaded. :: Scanning for ehci-hcd...ohci-hcd loaded. :: Scanning for s1811-hcd...s1811-hcd loaded. :: Scanning for unionfs...unionfs loaded. :: Scanning for e1000...e1000 loaded. :: Scanning for ty3...ty3 loaded. >>Activating mdev >>Activating Device-Mapper RAID(s) /dev/sda: "sil" and "nvidia" formats discovered (using nvidia)! /dev/sdb: "sil" and "nvidia" formats discovered (using nvidia)! [ 53.283352] _ NB I have removed the 3rd line by enabling "coolnquiet" in the BIOS The download has the correct checksum and i've burnt at the slowest speed... I have written to DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD RAM each one at least twice and the effect is the same ..they will not work on my other computer either . Does anyone have any ideas as to what is the problem I have many other live Distros and they all work fine thanks. |
I'm pretty sure Saboyan is Debian based although I could be wrong
|
Thanks for your reply Ace,
apparently the ISOLINUX line is correct...and the reason for the failure was that the dvd drive (that is only 3mths old) will not read its own discs...but it is only on the 3.3 version of this distro , all other live dvd's seem to work OK. I put in a the old drive and and everything is fine. |

thats why I said I could be wrong, theres a lot of debian based distros out there
|
I thought that gentoo wasn't debian ...
So why does the line:- ISOLINUX 3.11 Debian-2006-03-16 Copyright (C) 1994-2005 H.Peter ANVIN appear before the cd starts loading?? |

That's the bootloader. It *is* Debian. http://syslinux.zytor.com/iso.php |
