Kudzu?
 

I posted on a forum quite some time back about my issues getting a modem to work in BT5. Yesterday I got an email stating I had gotten a new response to that post and in the email is an excerpt from the post made by the person and it mentioned something called kudzu.

Naturally I clicked on the hyperlink to view the full post concerning the kudzu thing and the post had been removed. I am not in a hurry to go back to BT5 right now because I should be able to do basic network pen testing from Mint and learn more noobish Linux stuff at the same time but I am curious about what kudzu is... just in case I have to go back to BT5 early.

And...ummm... I wanted to post on this forum right now because I have the Mint vbox set up on the win side (and vice versa) and wanna see if the forum recognizes me as using win or linux :) Z/Z

If google was more useful and knowledgable about linux than the people on this forum I wouldn't be on this forum. Z/Z

There wouldn't be a forum if everyone were to start wasting people's time by opening pointless threads like this one - "Kudzu?", "Apache?", "AppArmor?", "Redmine?" without bothering to simply look up what the name references.

The question wasn't exactly "What is Kudzu?". More accurately the question was "Why did it several months of posting on various forums for someone to finally post the correct answer to the question 'How do I enable my usb modem in BT?' and is there any reason that post was immediately deleted?"

My secondary objective is get an answer... my primary objective is to get the truth.

I want to know how Linux works... not how it can be used. Allowing an OS to dictate what you can and cannot do is what Windows and Mac users do and by extension allows search engines to dictate what you can and cannot learn or see. I held a 3 and one half floppy in my hand about 15 years that had a polymorphic stealth virus on it... I have no intentions of sitting at my computer all day playing minesweeper. Z/Z

Is still kudzu around? I remember using it while ago with RedHat 5,6,7 :D !!

Kudzu, if i remember right is a sofware used to detect and setup hardware in the Distros mentioned above!

Kudzu is a hardware probing tool run at system boot time to determine what hardware has been added or removed from the system.

I still have my RedHat 5.0 disks !!!

Well over a decade ago I did some research on Linux primarily because one distro was named after my favorite hat. At that time I determined Linux was highly unstable, unsupported and nearly impossible to learn alone. That coupled with my injuries made Linux an impossible choice. I am glad I gave it a second chance. Z/Z
