Install GnomeMeeting (you might have to install some additional GNOME files if it isnt your default desktop). It will allow you to video conference with your friends :D

right now you cant view webcams which really really sucks IMO but I hope someday it will work.

gaim-vv is a hacked gaim that support webcams and a little more. Apparently it's all going to eventually be backported to the stable aim tree but for now this is your best working option :)

This can be done but would require that the host site uploads the pictures from the webcam on to an internet server. The pictures can then be seen via a browser. The following link describes how to do this on a Debian system but I am sure there are other articles for different distros;

gaim-vv works over the Yahoo protocol. Sounds like the best solutions thus far.

when ever i download the file ill try to install it but when i do the ./configuer,, make install doesnt work

You'll need to post the exact error message. I don't know if Lycoris comes with compilers or anyhting installed but the correct process it
Code:

./configure
make
su
[password]
make install

Which is this, gnomemeeting or gaim-vv? Either way, it looks like ./configure failed, most likely because of missing dependencies. Both require 3 or 4 big libraries. I think gaim-vv required linphone-im, libj2k, and a third one which i forgot. They have links to all three on the gaim-vv website i think.
