Discover chipset/manufacturer/model of installed IDE CD/DVD drive

Is there a command similar to lspci/lsusb that will list the info on my DVD drive/all installed drives? I need to find out what it's model is. There's little useful info visible on the outside, without pulling it out, which I'd rather not do at the moment.

Thanks!

Yep -- try one or more of hdparm, sdparm, or lshw :)

Depending on your distro, one or more of them may not be installed yet, but they are common and readily available with a quick google, and possibly from your repository as well.

also, lspci -v may give you more than the default.

smartctl (part of smartutils? I can't remember the whole package name) is another one, if the unit(s) is SMART capable.

PS - Great signature ;)
PPS - The drive controller should be listed in lspci output, or you could use DMIdecode for more (and redundant) information.
