Problem printing to a network printer

Hi there --

One of our workstations is running the Fedora Core 2 distribution, and needs to print to a Hewelett-Packard CP2025 printer. The printer is attached to the network, and it has been confirmed to be accessible via a test page sent from a Windows workstation.

The issue here appears to be with the driver. I have tried several of the generic color laserjet drivers included with Fedora, but none were successful in sending a test page to the printer. I tried installing the Fedora Core 13 version of the hplip software, but was unable to complete the installation.

Is there another option(s) available in getting the workstation to successfully send jobs to the printer?

Okay, it's a bit of a long shot (FC 2 - that's not really new, so I hope for the best) - I'd try to install IPP and CUPS. Get the CUPS server working on the workstation that needs to print, try to connect to is with the browser, use the loopback and port 631.
Next, install the printer on the web interface. You may need to install the GutenPrint package as well, there's more drivers there...

You should be able to pick up the printer from the Applet next (if I recall correctly System/Admin/printing?) and install the printer there too. Yes, you install the printer twice, once in the webinterface, once in the Applet of the system. Dont ask me why, I dont know ;) but it took me a while to come to grips with that too...
There should be a "detect" button to see if there's a printer there...hit it, the printer should be discovered at the IP address you supplied...

I'll keep this thread on the radar to see where it lands ...

luck

Just curious...

If you do not mind my asking, why are you still on FC-2? That is somewhat ancient.
