Konqueror only connects to the net as root
Hello,
I use Kubuntu 7.04. When I connect to the internet I can browse only as root(via "kdesu konqueror"). I have opera extracted to /home/user folder and I am able to use opera to browse the web. However I also want to use konqueror as an ordinary user. How do I set it so that it can browse the web as ordinary user? thanks! |
Of course, that should work. What happens when you start konqueror as your user?

I have the exact same problem. For me, when trying to open some a website with Konqueror as a simple user it says it cannot find the host.
All other KDE/non-KDE applications seem to work fine. Any ideas what's wrong or how to fix? Thanks. |
The answer is here: http://www.debianhelp.org/node/7904
"quetzal - Tuesday, June 26, 2007 - 08:41 Hi guys. I can localize this error. It's only happens with local cache enabled (the default)." So all you have to do is to deactivate the cache :) I know it's not a good idea, but as long as you use konqueror occasionaly, it's all right. :) |
This just started happening to me, previously it worked fine. Disabling the cache resolved it but what caused it to just stop working?

google01103, it didn't work right out of the box. Another solution, admittedly more ugly is adding the user to the adm and admin groups. It works then.
