how to get linux webpages from windows
hello,
distribution: Fedora Core 1 i am trying to connect my linux laptop to a windows network (work) to access the internet. the windows network uses DHCP so i thought it was going to be easy :( if i connect my laptop to the network and i try to activate the eth0 card, it won't do it if i connect a spare wireless router i have, the router connects fine to the network and i then can connect a windows laptop to the router and the internet works fine. but if i connect the linux laptop to the router, the linux laptop will stablish a valid DHCP connection, BUT i won't get internet :( i will keep waiting and the page will not load. i looked for this problem but i couldn't find any specific information to this isue. it is not the firewall because i disabled it: service iptables stop and it keeps doing the same thing what can i do? When it's waiting for the page to load, would that be a domain or an IP address? If you can't reach http://www.google.com but can reach http://64.233.167.104 (google). Then you forgot to add your name servers to your /etc/resolve.conf file.

no. i cannot even ping anything outside
i think it must use a different protocol or something like that. what do people do when they try to get through windows servers from fedora? i forgot to add that i can connect to the network in my school from my linux laptop. it is DHCP and i works fine, but not at work. i usually activate the card in system settings-> network (then click activate). or automatically if i connect to the network when i boot up. the PCs at work they also have DHCP and it works fine for windows PCs but not for linux PCs.
