how to get linux webpages from windows

distribution: Fedora Core 1

i am trying to connect my linux laptop to a windows network (work) to access the internet.

the windows network uses DHCP so i thought it was going to be easy

if i connect my laptop to the network and i try to activate the eth0 card, it won't do it

if i connect a spare wireless router i have, the router connects fine to the network and i then can connect a windows laptop to the router and the internet works fine. but if i connect the linux laptop to the router, the linux laptop will stablish a valid DHCP connection, BUT i won't get internet i will keep waiting and the page will not load.

i looked for this problem but i couldn't find any specific information to this isue.

it is not the firewall because i disabled it:

service iptables stop

and it keeps doing the same thing

what can i do?

When it's waiting for the page to load, would that be a domain or an IP address? If you can't reach but can reach (google). Then you forgot to add your name servers to your /etc/resolve.conf file.

no. i cannot even ping anything outside

i think it must use a different protocol or something like that.

what do people do when they try to get through windows servers from fedora?

i forgot to add that i can connect to the network in my school from my linux laptop. it is DHCP and i works fine, but not at work. i usually activate the card in system settings-> network (then click activate). or automatically if i connect to the network when i boot up.

the PCs at work they also have DHCP and it works fine for windows PCs but not for linux PCs.
