D-Link problems
Hi,
Having fun with Linux but not with my D-link ethernet card this is the problem : It is not detected so this is what I have tried to do: It is a D-Link DFE 530TX PCI Ethernet card with the VIA 86C100A Rhine II (and 3043 Rhine I) Chipset. On boot up of SuSE version 7 I get three errors 1. KERNELD You almost certainly do not want to run this with Kernel 2.2.X ( I have Kernel 2.2.16 ) 2. Eth0 FAIL and Eth1 FAIL 3. NFS Servnfssvc Not implemented FAIL ( I think this is if I want my computer to be a server from how the manual reads - can't you tell I'm a beginner ) Once I am in I call up YAST 1 and then type in my password I then choose from the options screen SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION NETWORK CONFIGURATION NETWORK BASE CONFIG Under Type of I choose - ETHERNET Under Type of Device - Eth0 or Eth1 Under IP ADDRESS I Type the same as the one I use under Windows Then I save using F10 I then choose INTEGRATED HARDWARE into SYSTEM CONFIGURE NETWORK DEVICE and then I highlight NETWORK DEVICE TYPE and choose Via VT86 c100A Rhine-11 after all that and re-checking the manual It is stll not loaded, I have even done the Xconfig from usr/src/linux and checked the Network options and the D-Link is highlighted. Can anyone help me get this blasted card working, it works fine with the other OS. Regards ABSOLUTE BEGINNER |
