Scanner problems
 

Hi, my first posting here. I use Mint 6 which I love but have just one problem.
I have both Sane and Xsane and both find my scanner (Canoscan Lide 20 - also found in Device Manager)) but all I get when scanning is a blank page. I can even hear the scanner working.
As I am fairly new to Linux please help with "easy to solve" answer.
Thank you for any help as this is driving me mad!

Hi vickiep, and welcome to LQ...hope you find your journey through learning Linux a good one.

I once had that scanner a few years ago and never was successful in getting it to work in Linux. However, there is a useful feature on LQ where you can usually find someone who has had success with a particular piece of hardware. In this case, look here:

Hello Bob and thank you very much for answer. After several weeks of trying to get my scanner to work it now works in Xsane. Last night I decided to install and use my printer and for some reason scanner now works!! Why I do not know.
I will keep your answer for in case scanner stops working. Many thanks, vickiep
