BT2 = BackTrack 2.0

http://www.remote-exploit.org/backtrack.html

It is a live-CD distro based upon Slackware which comes with a bunch of "penetration testing" software tools.

Ciao

Ah..you're right...i knew it but didn't understand it was BT2..i tried bt2 in my notebook before other distros to crack a net but it didn't work well with my hardware so didn't install it..in every distro i use to install aircrack, airsnort, dsniff and so on...so it' the same..

anyway for making things easier i suggest to use bt2 as live cd withour installing it or use any distro with aircrack, airsnort, dsniff and so on...so it' the same..

Ciao !

I've heard of a distro called ENGARDE but don't know, think should be something similar TO IPCOP -to protect a net and not to crack it..-anyone knows anything about it ?

My Personal Suggestion For A Vista/linux Easy And Secure Dual Boot

:) :study: ciao !

after reading this post i gave a more carefull look at my vista/linux dual boot..

i'm still keeping grub on mbr as my defauly bldr..installed from vista easy bcd AND vistabootpro to give them a look..they can't load linux by themselves,i'm still keeping grub on mbr as my defauly bldr..but they during boot let you eventually choose to access IN A SECOND the repair options by pressing only one time F8 instead of start hitting many, many times F8 in case of need just as you turn on pc until you can access these options ..:study: SO MY SUGGESTION IS TO KEEP GRUB AS DEFAULT BOOT LOADER ON MBR AND THEN INSTALL EASY BCD-it's much better than vistabootpro which is thought essentially to let you boot between xp and vista- AND USE BCD WITHOUT OVERWRITING GRUB ! ONLY FOR HAVING A FASTER AND EASIER ACCESS TO VISTA BOOT AND REPAIR OPTIONS..

:Pengy: SEE YA !:D :)

, hey i got a laptop recently, with vista on it(acer laptop)...
installed ubuntu BB5.10, but was anoyed that i couldnt make it all work and i wasnt able get a copy of a later version and no net connection to use...so i got latest distro at newsagency, xandros4, works good with laptop, and uses lilo...pity vista annoyed me too much, now laptop is a linux machine only, but vista booted fine and worked ok, just i have this phobia about windoze and cant handle sleeping between app's...plus vista is ummm, i am too much of a lady to say what i think...
the bootloaders never gave me any probs, yet i read about all these problems ppl keep having with vista, my prob was the time it took to do things, i could have a decent sleep between app changes...

I just remembered that BT2 uses lilo and not GRUB. I dont know if this will change things or not but if it doesnt then this is what I need to do?
1) boot into BT2 live CD (startx)
2) Start the GUI installer
3) Put bldr on MBR
4) Even though linux will be the only OS that will boot and lilo wont come up, use easy-BCD to correct this.
5) After you have easy-BCD set up, restart, and eveything should work.

Now I have never used easy-bcd but do I have the steps right in all of this as far as what I need to do to get everything working and the dual boot?

Thank you all for your help in this
