laptop keyboard problem
hi,
I have just installed mandriva onto a Samsung VM8000 laptop. the installation seems to have gone OK except for a keyboard problem. The VM8000 has a function key that when certain keys are pressed in conjunction with it produce different outputs - eg fn+k will give the number 2. My problem is that the fn key seems to be working in reverse - IE when I press the letter k I get a 2 but to get the letter k I have to press fn+k. I have contacted a user on the laptop-linux.com website who gave me a couple of suggestion's but none of them have worked. Can anyone please help? Please note I am a complete beginner when it comes to linux. thanks in advance Antony <edit> Since posting this I have discovered that the problem was being caused by the num-lock being on by default. I have tried changing this in the cmos but nothing changes. so my question now is how can I turn off the num-lock in linux? |
Hello!
It can be distro specific, but there are plenty of tutorials online. Try a search on your favourite search engine (I get loads of results on Yahoo) for "linux numlock boot". If none of those work, let us know! :) Jamie. |
Chane the keyboard type
Hi,
Actually I am not work with mandriva yet.But I can give you a suggestion to solve this. You may have to goto the control center(Regional and Accebility Options) and change keyboard layout for laptop (i think there is a option for it).So just try it. |
