Hii, i installing on my notebook, debian squeeze, and problem is a CPU temperature - 66 CELSIUS without open applications. I try to install drivers from ATI, but without success, the windows is moving verry slow, but temperature dropped 55 C. So any ideas how to dropped temp?

Info:

VIdeo: Ati Mobility Radeon HD4650
Temperature in Ubuntu is 45-50 C, in win7 -45- 50 C again.

Thanks.

Hi,

for example the module which controls the CPU-frequency is powernow_k8. You can check the loaded modules with lsmod, if you pipe the output of lsmod to sort you'll have an alphabetically sorted list of the loaded modules.
Code:

lsmod | sort
Create this list for Debian and Ubuntu and then compare them, maybe you find out what your Debiansystem is missing.

You may as well compare the kernelconfigurations.

Find out which applications for powermanagement Ubuntu has installed, look at the configuration and then check your Debian.
