Which Graphics Card for Ubuntu 11.04
I have used Ubuntu 9.10; 10.04 and recently I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04.
However, although the classic interface runs well and I am doing all the stuff I need to - I can't seem to be able to access Unity. I am a comparative newbie but suspect it may be that I need a graphics card upgrade? I currently use a G72 [GeForce 7500 LE] (I think). Do I need a "better" graphics card and what one? How difficult to install? I have successfully installed memory and a new hdd; so know a little bit. But am not so confident about command lines and prefer working with the GUI. |
G72 was used with 7200GS, 7300LE, 7300GS, 7500LE.
Have you installed the drivers? Try going here- system-> administration-> additional drivers That should bring up 'jockey-gtk' which lets you install the nVidia drivers. |
Thank You
Thanks! I didn't realize that I needed to install new drivers! Thanks! It looks like it works!

No problem. ;)
By the way, marking this thread as 'solved' is a good idea. (you can do that in 'thread tools' above the 1st post) |
