What distro (Mandrake, Fedora, SUSE, etc.) are you running? Have you installed the Linux kerenel source package? If so, can you type:
Code:
cd /usr/src/linux<tab> If that doesn't work then you'll need to install the kernel source. Search LQ for how to do that for your distro. |
im using mandrake 10, and my cd rom drives work everyonce in a while, they wont load up the cds

What do you mean they won't load up the CDs? Do you mean they will not mount the CDs? If I remember correctly Mandrake uses something called Supermount to automatically mount drives. Search LQ for how to disable this because it might be causing your problem with CDs. Post as much info as you can, please.
