trying to access usb ports


when i go here http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...icle&artid=115 and i do that i get stuck where i have to go to terminal and type #cd /usr/src/linunx , it says no such file or directory. and the only way i can hook up my dsl modem is through usb because i dont have a ethernet card on that computer. any help would be awesome! thanks

What distro (Mandrake, Fedora, SUSE, etc.) are you running? Have you installed the Linux kerenel source package? If so, can you type:
Code:
cd /usr/src/linux<tab>
Type the above but press <tab> after typing 'linux'.

If that doesn't work then you'll need to install the kernel source. Search LQ for how to do that for your distro.

im using mandrake 10, and my cd rom drives work everyonce in a while, they wont load up the cds

What do you mean they won't load up the CDs? Do you mean they will not mount the CDs? If I remember correctly Mandrake uses something called Supermount to automatically mount drives. Search LQ for how to disable this because it might be causing your problem with CDs. Post as much info as you can, please.
