Terrible Audio Problems
Hello, I had another account and posted about this but I lost password. Well I have a m audio usb sound card and it works Ok for the most part but once or twice a day it will make these terrible static noises. I have no idea what it could be (i am on debian 9.5 ). so you can really know what I am talking about I have an audio file that I made that mimics how the problem sounds almost exactly. It happends when I am listening to audio on the internet such as youtube. I have a fresh install of Debian but ive done a good amount of config after installing. Please listen to the entire audio clip AND MAKE SURE YOUR HEADPHONES ARE TURNED DOWN.

Can you post a link to the exact M-Audio sound card you have.
Is it this one? https://www.whybuynew.co.uk/studio-e...CABEgImUfD_BwE The sound clip severly distorts, then sounds like white noise. Does the USB sound card drive your speakers directly or do you take output to separte amplifier, then to speakers? |
Yes, It goes directly to headphones here is what I have exactly:

Check your USB lead.
Whilst playing some audio stream, keep volume low and wiggle each end of USB cable. If the cable or connectors are bad, by moving the cable you may be able to prove that the USB cable is at fault. The same goes for the M-audio power supply. If the sound card has external power, try gently wiggling cable. Other than those suggestions, there is a support email to the manufacturer on the link you provided. You also say once or twice a day? How long does distortion last? Does sound then revert back to normal audio? |

Don't see any software on that website related to Linux, just Mac and Windows. If it's just a few times a day, some obvious questions are:
Related to this thread, where you didn't follow up? https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...-a-4175640264/ You just mention Firefox/YouTube/Internet audio...does an audio FILE cause the same problems???? |
