X in Slackware
I have been trying to get X up and running in Slackware for a week now. Everytime I solve one problem I find another one. My hardware is pretty basic. I have a built in intel vid card, gateway EV500 monitor. I have always depended on RedHat to set X up for me. I tried booting into knoppix and saving that XFree86 config file over my own. Turns out I cant boot knoppix. It just freezes and I have to pull the power cord. So I reinstall RH and try it that way. No such luck. Can someone help?

well can you actually supply us with the problem, other than simply "you can't get X running"?
what errors are you getting? what have you already tried ? |
How do I post my Xfree86 config file? I dont see an attachtment option.
One error I get is: (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have usable configuration. Fatal server error: no screens found. My HoriSync is 31.5, 35.5 VertRefresh is 50-70 Thats all I can post till I find a way to post my config/log files. |
Are you running Slackware again or are you running Red Hat?

Does anyone know a way I can post my config file?

Try the generic VESA compatible, the generic VGA compatible and the unsupported VGA compatible at 800x600@16bits. There's a chance there.

Copy the content of your config file and paste in the reply window. Then make sure you click "Submit Reply" ;)
