Sounds levels and loud BIOS beep.
I am running Gentoo on kernel version 2.6.17 with ALSA built-in. My question is, how do I lower the BIOS beep on my Thinkpad T60p laptop. I have PCM at 84%, front speaker at 86% in alsamixer.
My problem is that I will be playing some music and the BIOS beep will always play louder than the music. It is really annoying hitting a wrong key in the console and have my ears blasted out by this beep on the headphones. I don't want to disable it because it is necessary but I would like to take the beep down a few notches so it is more subtle. Any ideas or websites I could go to that could give me more information on this? I have gone to the ALSA website and didn't find any clear answers to my issue. :study: |
Hello
Do you use the build in speakers for both music and system beep? I'm afraid there is no real solution for that. At the office I use a HP desktop with build in speaker and Window$ XP. Same problem. Have a lot of fun Koen Plessers |
That is correct; the same speaker used by BIOS is the same one for general output since it is on a laptop. There isn't any way to try and control the volume of the BIOS beep?
