how to i set my default terminal emulator from the gnome terminal to xterm and the set the default email to thunderbird?

I'm not quite sure if this is what you're looking for, but the menu that comes up when you right click is determined by the file a file in your home folder, ~/.fluxbox/menu. If you need to learn how it works check out the fluxbox documentation, which is pretty good. It's pretty easy to edit this file by hand though there are some tools you can use but I don't remember off the top of my head.

sorry. that helped perfectly. i was under the impression that the fluxbox menu when called lets say "Terminal" it opened the default terminal for linux. just editing the menu itself is much better.

there is no default terminal for Linux... there's just the default for whatever gui you are using, which you can set in the settings (a textfile or some random menu..)

ok. seems like i ran into another problem. everytime i logout, my fluxbox menu config changes back to the default. i use vim to modify it and :wq when im finished. it works everytime, just wont save after i logout or reboot. i dont understand why it does that.

ok. i found a fix since i couldnt figure out why the menu file kept going back to default. ill i had to do was copy the menu file to wopmenu and modify the fluxbox init file and tell it to use wopmenu instead of default.
