mozilla scrolling going nuts
When I use the down or up arrows by clicking on them once or twice etc my screen starts to scroll and never stop till it get to the bottom of a page or something. This is very annoying when trying to read something.
It is very jumpy too. Is there a setting for this. i have looked all over in Mozilla. I have 1.5G memory on the laptop so i dont think is memory related. but may be it is? Or display related? Its like Mozilla looses is mind or something. I cannot click on it or do anything with it. Sometimes i have to kill it. to get it to respond. |
found an add on see if that helps any...
|
even with the add on it still jumps around and wont behave.
|
Was it always behaving that way ?
Is a new install ? Which distro are you using ? If it is a new install did you install the driver for the graphic card ? In other words please give use some information . |
well its a recent install Ununtu 9.10 but it would do this under 9.4 on occasion. But now more and more often. It was fine under 9.10 for a while. I wonder if they patched something that messed it up.
Too I get slow response. when typing. I just noticed that while i am trying to update this post. The HDW is an IBM R51 laptop. if the helps. |
What might helps is if you do know the type of you're graphic card.
And Ubuntu do have a hardware database for the support hardware. If you are in the terminal give the command lspci it gives you a lot of information about you're hardware and post it maybe we can help you out. |
the monitor s set to 1024x768
Thank you that was the command I was looking for to get that info for you. I was looking for /etc/X11/xorg.config but I dont have that file on my system. lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 82855PM Processor to I/O Controller (rev 03) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82855PM Processor to AGP Controller (rev 03) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 01) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 01) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 01) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-M) USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 01) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev 81) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801DBM (ICH4-M) LPC Interface Bridge (rev 01) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801DBM (ICH4-M) IDE Controller (rev 01) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) SMBus Controller (rev 01) 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 01) 00:1f.6 Modem: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Modem Controller (rev 01) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility M7 LW [Radeon Mobility 7500] 02:00.0 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCI4520 PC card Cardbus Controller (rev 01) 02:02.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. this scrolling issue must be a screen driver issue. Its driving me nuts but I cannot find any new drivers for this.
|
I am still having this issue if anyone has any more input. I dont seem to be able to find any new driver for the video so I dont know whats goin gon.
Could I be low memory? Not sure how that could be as I an only running Firefox and it still happens. Not running any other apps Thanx |
this is getting really annoying. I had to kill my firefox time and time again. It seem to just lock up now and wont respond.
I wonder if I should uninstall and reinstall it? My system is fully patched. |
still having the issue. something strange going on and i cannot figure it out.
now after updating the os (update manager ran) every so often my screen had a bunch of lines on it now and I have to reboot and they go away. |
