Hybernate SYSTEM
Windows can hybernate , so that when you boot up the next time, it is FAST to reach your windows!
Is this available in linux, like suse? |
Yes. Hibernation requires Software-Suspend 2 kernel patch and the hibernate scripts. Not all drivers are compatible with that, for example my sound driver for an Emu10k1 based sound card doesn't come up cleanly - so it is functional but no sound. Has to be kicked out and reloaded.

Hi
I have talked about this here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=375314 It works quite well on my machine but it is very hardware dependent. |
In addition to ACPI, there's also software suspend - http://www.suspend2.net - which I believe is hardware-independant

I just upgraded my DDR RAM from 256 to 512MB, my PC runs faster now, so i think it is not necessary for me to try hybernate in linux. :D
