Fixing up KDE 3.0

not a life or death question... however i do want to get it resolved...

i installed KDE3.0 "ok"... however each time i start it up, it always asks me to customize my settings again?

that wizard thingy wont go away!!!

but it still remembers my settings from past sessions, all i can do at the moment is cancel the wizard and just loads KDE3 fine after that...

any fixes???

ie. disable that anoying wizard?

thx.
:confused:

I think the very latest kde3 rpms addresss this issue. or, make sure
your ~/.kde3/share/config/kpersonalizerrc has this in it:

[General]
FirstLogin=false

Try this
found in NS group

ditto

same here...Mandrake 8.2 with KDE 3.0.2.

i've spent countless hours just trying to get it to default to KDE (though it ended up being quite easy) and now i get that customization box when i start.
hopefully someone's cracked it...anyone?....anyone?

The quickest fix I have found is to use Fluxbox:D

You should be able to fix
Quote:

your ~/.kde3/share/config/kpersonalizerrc ...
If you do not have the kpersonalizerrc file in your normal user home directory (you DO have a "normal" user, you are NOT loggin in as root, RIGHT? ;) ) , do a search for it by entering:

find / -n kpersonalizerrc

That will start the find program and it will start at the root directory and look in all subdirectories for a file named "kpersonailzerrc". Note all the instances of that file and in each instance add the text quoted above and save each file:

[General]
FirstLogin=false
