slack 8.1

i think i have been out of the loop .. decided to check out www.slackware.com today and it said they are working on 8.1 with 2.4.18 kernel

thats cool!

DiscoStoo 04-08-2002 07:10 PM

Yeah, Slackware-current has TONS of new crap in it. I'll bet close after GNOME 2 comes out Slack 8.1 will follow.

Aussie 04-08-2002 08:03 PM

And kde/qt3 as well I hope :)

MikeeX 04-08-2002 09:52 PM

i know i cant wait!

ronss 04-09-2002 05:15 AM

are you guys going to but the retail version, guess for $40 its cheap compared to microsofts huge dollar amounts.

Syncrm 04-09-2002 07:58 AM

paying for linux is lame. bandwidth and a burner are all i need to get the latest version of slack. all you're really paying for with a store bought slack distro are the cds, the manual, and the nice shiney box. :-)

MikeeX 04-09-2002 09:24 AM

i dont have 40 bux :P

taz.devil 04-09-2002 10:10 AM

I don't have the bandwidth, but i'm not paying 40$ even though I would if I had to. I'll be going to linuxcentral and buying the set for what will probably be 15$ after shipping.

MikeeX 04-09-2002 10:31 AM

ya 40 bux is a bit to much

15 i can deal with

Aussie 04-09-2002 07:01 PM

KDE/Qt3 are in slackware-current now, Patrick must be waiting for gnome 2 before releasing 8.1.

Hmmm...

Luckily being next to one of the bigger mirrors on the planet, I was able to get Slack 8 the day it came out from a local anonymous mirror.

I've got a lot of CDRs.

I get free postage...

Hmm...

Cheers,

Finegan

After hearing all of that, sheesh, you've got yourself a nice little business opportunity there. If nothing else, some dude here in Seattle who would pay you to burn it and send it to me, I mean him! ;)

gui10 04-10-2002 06:02 AM

i'll be downloading and burning my copy.
wonder when the release date will be... looking forward to it.

and i'm wondering what bit Patrick for him to include all those new stuff like it was a rash...
