Linux Newbie wants to know: Which distro is best for gaming?
:newbie:
Hi. I'm a 24 year old techie slacker, and I want to port to Linux ohsobaaaaad, but I'm afraid to leave Windows because I hate my modem and the drivers which I have to pay money for. Oh, yeah, and because I am such a newbie. Oh, well. I've tried two distros already - Knoppix and Mandrake 10 (which I don't like, because I have to pay for updates. I know, they're a company and they need money to stay alive, but I'd rather not.) Which brings me to my question: I want a good Linux gaming distro. Can anyone recommend one? |
personally I game on slackware, but any should be fine; it's moer about finding a distro which suits your mentality than which is best for runnign games, because at the end of the day you could be running indentical things on different distros :)

Pay for updates? I have a mandrake 10 system, you just run Mandrake update, and it doesnt cost anything.
