I have successfully run the 64-bit versions of Fedora, Suse 9.0, and Gentoo on my zv5000z. The trick is to pass idle=poll as a kernel parameter. This is apparently a workaround to a popular bios insufficiency.

Also, after a lot of messing around with my /etc/X11/XF86Config file, I got the 1680x1050 working.

switch off "usb legacy support" in bios, go to install and enter "poll=idle" in the option box at bottom of yast screen prior to starting installation, if you still have problems you may have to add "apm=off acpi=off", which seems to apply to my MSI motherboard at the moment.

I am running the amd64 msi k8tneo fis2r mb, to get Suse Pro 9.0 amd 64 to run, first time around I used the option "poll=idle" in the installation screen, after experimenting ended up using only "apm=off acpi=off" options. Using these option got me thro' the floppy drive problems and the lockups during and after installation.

The computer is running fine after changing the original Linksys ethernet card to a realtek card which now gives me internet access via a zoom adsl ethernet modem, originally running a speedtouch adsl, no chance of working with the amd 64 version of suse.

Note the computer is running using 1 x dvd, 1 x dvd+-rw, 1 x cd-rw, 3 x 40gig hds, geforce2, pvr 250 tv card, s'blaster and silicon images 680 ide raid card in std ide format. this fomat worked ok with the original athlon mb, so kept this format and for the moment have the onboard sata raid, serial ata, lan, sound etc switched off. Will wait for till stable drivers etc arrive and then start changing over to the onboard devices.

The computer is at present running 2 x WinXP, 1 x Suse 9.0 pro 32 bit and 1 x Suse pro 9.0 amd64, all run together using the suse grub bootloader (amd 64 version, although could write menu into the 32bit version but will have to watch how I update the bootloader) as the start point. Have had Mandrake amd64 on as well. The only problem know after with Suse Pro 9.0 amd64 after the update is that it will not shutdown the computer, ie suse shutdown / terminates all programs, services etc but will not power doown the computer.
