Which OS is most likely running the Matrix?
Just curious which OS people think would be capable (or flawed enough) to run the Matrix.
EDIT: i accidently pressed enter rather than tab...so most of the options I wanted to put aren't there. How come I can't edit my own poll? lol |
What does this have to do with Linux specifically? I don't see a Linux technical question being asked. This looks like a mindless general thread, so its being moved. Please place your threads appropiately, its not rocket science.

Its supposed to be a poll on which OS will dominate the earth (OS + matrix) and then means that we must hate that os and bann it for the rest of our lives. ...$0.2
|
errr uhh, wasn't it already in the general thread???

Linux - General and General Big difference in where you place these types of useless and mindless threads for just chitter chat, etc. It is now in the proper location. Linux - General is reserved for technical questions regarding Linux and if you feel that your questions doesn't fit in any of the other Linux forums. So questions asking what OS the Matrix runs belong in General, not Linux - General. Not too hard mate, just try to read the forum descriptions before placing your threads or questions. |
Okay, now that this is posted properly, the answer is...Heck, I don't know. The Matrix had all sorts of viruses, spyware, miscellaneous programs running underneath it's main programming, and an "architect" that wanted to balance the equations and keep the status quo. My vote is Windows XP. It's almost a shame that Linux is associated with that film, but at least it's the good parts Linux was involved with. :)

i say linux
if you look closely at the movie you can see some linux commands (at least trinity using nmap) plus all of em backdoors/programs seems more like some version of linux then windows, if it were windows those programs wouldn't be able to run very well :):D (OK, so it seems like a version of linux if you see those runaway programs as users that know how to hack it (they are AI after all)) and who picked DOS? since when can any OS but some version of UNIX handle such a complex set of programs? |
Robots that evil could only be using Windows
|
who else ?
Linux can only handle Matrix ! |
Everything in the Matrix is virtual reality, humans inside create Linux and all the other OS's, etc. Its only in their minds. If you think really hard and long about it, they didn't have that green code scrolling across the screens for nothing, its the machines own code and OS most likely they've created, probably called Matrix OS....
|
..about M$ and the robots.. If that were the case wouldn't the robots have slaugtered there competition, anyways? :)
Something new.. bold.. exciting.. Matrux 2.0 beta :) (I think I saw a lot of bugs ;) ) |
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=60015 - I thought this seemed familiar.
Now the trick for all of you is to come up with arguments that haven't already been made in that thread :) |

I think the power plants weren't actually that at all, they were vast parallel processing/pattern recognition clusters.
I mean, what about the Law of Conservation of Energy? With no sun there would be no way of keeping the inmates alive with out somesort of power source driving hydroponic plants or whatever, in which case why would the machines need to keep the humans around at all, unless to use them for something other than power generation? The human brain has spent millions of years becoming one of nature's best pattern recognition / abstract reasoning engines, and the machines would have been fools not to enslave humanity and use this resource when the oppotunity presented itself. In the third film is even made apparent that when Agent Smith forked himself (it must get lonely being a sentient AI;)), he was actually over-writing the nervous system of his victim, ie he was software that could execute using the human brain as hardware (well, wetware or whatever). So to summarise, the operating system of the Matrix was the human NervOS system (ba-dum-chi). (OK, so I admit I came up with this entire post just to motivate that very lame pun at the end. But is not the humble pun the highest form of comedy? Well, maby not.. but seriously though, why didn't the machines win? They were smarter, stronger, faster, more numerous and better organised. Or was I the only one rooting for the AI againts the hu-mans?) |

smarter? -- it couldn't even delete programs it had the source code for! (the matrix made all the programs), plus it made a "deal" to stop the entire war if neo simply does format of smith's partition??? stronger? -- well....ok, but aren't most things on the earth stronger than us? faster? -- Yes, but not as manuverable more numerous? -- according the the 2nd movie it was an equal ratio of man to machine better organized? -- the humans had to be pretty darn organized to make an underground city while being attacked by the machines I don't know who should have won, but SOMEONE should have, they shouldn't have became friends or w/e crap that was in the 3rd movie |
