It will take 5000 posts for it to be 100 pages for me!

And so it begins...

Being as lazy as possible... I'm using my Arch desktop while laying in bed. How? I've got the peripherals and monitor set up on the dresser at the foot of my bed (don't have a second desk), and the mouse+keyboard are wireless, so I just turn the monitor, take the mouse+keyboard with me, zoom in with the Enhanced Desktop Zoom plugin (yay Compiz! :D), and voilą, instant über-lazy computer station!

This; coming from a true Slacker! Disgraceful.

brianL 03-22-2010 07:32 PM

I was shocked to find someone who might actually be lazier than me. :D

Thinking it is time to turn off viewing other people's signatures, because I think I am getting giddy as all sorts of colo(u)rs flash before my eyes every time I scroll down through Page 38 in this never.....................ending..................thread

minrich 03-22-2010 07:53 PM

Ah, feeling so much better now.

lupusarcanus 03-22-2010 07:58 PM

@minrich; Is something wrong with my sig? I don't mind feedback. Just trying to show people some dying fundamentals of community support.

I'm cleaning my email box - and that's what I found - It's an email to my colleague's husband who has been into *NIX for 20 odd years asking him to burn a linux cd for me. Looking at the date it looks like I registered with LQ two weeks later. It's really nice to read something like that.

.. As M. told you, I would like to learn something about Linux and then probably switch to it. I don't know the first thing about it so I'll have to start from scratch. I have dug up some information on the internet which will keep me busy over the weekend.
Since I do not have internet connection at home, I am not able to download Red Hat. We tried to download it at work but there was some problem with the server. Where else can I get it? Could you do me a huge favour and burn it for me?
As my notebook's processor is AMD Turion (64 bit), I presume I need the following version (am I right?)
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu.../4/x86_64/iso/

By the way, does it matter which partition you install Linux on? Does it have to be the first one (i.e C:)? At the moment I have 3 partitions
C: (10GB) - system (windows)
D: (20GB) - music applications
E: (30GB) - data
What would I have to do? Split E: and create another partition for Linux, or do I have to reinstall everything?
Thank you

Back to normal non-lazy mode, now. :)

Turns out typing while laying down isn't as comfortable as one would think...

minrich 03-22-2010 08:40 PM

@leopard - nothing personal, but even with the down button (just behind the tilt wheel) on my MX1000 laser mouse it takes some time to scroll down an upto 50 post page, it is just so much quicker with no sigs - and it doesn't take a moment to reset My LQ >> Edit Options
