MasterC 08-11-2002 01:28 AM

Uh, hello :)

MasterC 08-11-2002 01:32 AM

When I get bored, I pull up www.theonion.com and read a bit. That helps a bit.

Or I go count narcotics, that's time consuming, and keeps you awake.

when i get bored i go to www.emode.com learn some things about yourself

Mara 08-11-2002 06:16 AM

Wow! Beeing bored? I'd like to be bored. Can someone tell me how to do this? :D

GT I.N.C 08-11-2002 06:23 AM

hahahhaha, i'm a master at being bored, i usually lay down on my bed and stare at the ceiling, its fun at first, but then you get realllllllly bored, but its addictive cause you get to think of things that you wouldn't think of when your busy doing other stuff, in other words, its a form of mediting :P

I'm sorry isa, I didn't catch your post fast enough. :(

What happened to your direct high-speed connection to this site? And your automatic popup screen that shows when someone types your name? Hehehe

:)

The microkernel imbedded in my kneecap to keep my connection alive died with loss of power, I was recharging it at the time. Finegan is working on a way to power that sucker with kinetic energy. :)

Mara 08-15-2002 11:23 AM

How much power does it need? Like one watch or more? :D

... i thought it might have been something like that... :)

He he, do you realise how close to the truth (with the exception of the Finegan bit... I think) you are? I recently (about 6 months ago) did a tiny bit of research into the myoelectrical connectivity of prosthetics and found some really interesting stuff! Related to the kinetic powering bit (but only loosely), some researchers at Washinton University Biorobotics Labs are/have developed some pretty cool pneumatic actuators which are so small that they would make a very good robotic muscle. They are currently (I believe... haven't really kept up with it) researching methods of powering these devices by storing kinetic energy (the actuators are basically small motors).

Also, as far as your direct connection goes: there has already been progress in developing a chemical that could be likened to 'velcro for nerves'. An extract from the CD I had to 'publish' for my project: One end of the protein contains a 'hook' that attached to the integrins on the surface of neurons. At the other end, a sulphur-containing group can bond to the cadmium-sulphide surface of some semiconductors. Such techniques could provide the push needed to propel the 'direct neural interfacing' research into practice..

Sorry if this is a little... erm, off topic, but I just remembered where I put the CD and then this thread fell into my lap. I had to post!

I hope it's not too boring.

Dude, that's awesome! Cool stuff going on in the world... Thanks Thymox!
