I was the recipient of a full-scholarship that paid about $11,000 for my four-year college degree. That same degree, from that same (public!) institution, would cost $375,000 according to their official web site.
My wife obtained a degree at another institution for around $4,200 ... which institution would today charge $138,000 again according to their own site.
I assure you that the professors in both colleges are not rolling in money. (In fact, since one of them happens to be my cousin, I can authoritatively state that they are fearing for their jobs!)
After all, at this point, the United States does not need to college-educate its citizens. It can simply "import" millions of people into the country on non-immigrant visa programs, all of whom claim to come with "Bachelor's degrees from somewhere-or-the-other," take advantage of their know-how for between 2 and 6 years, then kick them back where they came from and "import" replacements! Surely, it must be obvious how this will produce much-better quarterly results for their Shareholders!!

Yes, "the Parable of the Prodigal Son" has played itself out once more, and in full measure. The stupidity, and the complete unsustainability, of thirty-plus years of "business as usual" is finally being confronted by reality . . .
