mocking the new Ubuntu version's codename

I see from Distrowatch that the latest Ubuntu development is codenamed "Jaunty Jackalope." In that case, I suggest codenaming the next one "Zesty Zonkey." Eat that, Ubuntu.

acid_kewpie 03-27-2009 01:47 PM

Well Zonkey doesn't start with a K... Maybe Zonkey will make an appearance in version 17.4.

Anyway, Zonkey's exist, like Ligers and Tigons. Jackalopes don't.

Never mind.

Kinky Kitty?

Why mock the release names? Surely Ubuntu are doing that nicely by themselves? And because this is a non-technical chat, it's now residing in Grumpy General.

Honestly? I think because I wanted an excuse to say "zonkey." It's not really because I've laughed at Ubuntu's name for years--I suggested that if I ever create a distro, I'll call it "Chimichanga Linux," and I just now thought of shortening the former to "Ubu Linux"; if it were another distro receiving silly animal names, I'd mock it just the same.
