Yes, I am a fan of that. Don't have all their albums, but have several.

There is much metal that is political and social, and metal bands and punk bands share much of the same ideologies and both tend to be a reaction to the peace, love, and happiness of the 60's and 70's. The only real difference IMHO is the metal tends to gate keep more than punk and punk tend to be overt in its nihilism it's two different reactions to the same side of the coin. I'm generally all punk all the time I tend to find kindred spirits in the rap crowd and the heavy metal crowd, it all tends to be blue-collar and it all addresses real issues. IMO The three groups need to find their similarities not their differences because they're all looking for the same thing while addressing it differently. I'm a callused handed, bent nosed, undereducated a$$hole who things most people should listen to Henry Rollins |

I ignore all the politicalness. If a song sounds good, I listen. If it sounds like crap, I don't. That's how music should be judged. Who cares if there's a message (IMO). You should listen because it's good!! |
It's true that metal isn't usually (explicitly) political, unless nihilism counts as a political position. But there have been some notable exceptions, like Operation Mindcrime and ...And Justice For All.

It's dark and getting colder and colder... which means it's time for Dråpsnatt. I love the shrieking vocal style here, much more suited to black metal. A band who made three excellent albums and then just disappeared. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sWRNznfpos EDIT: That other band I'm thinking of is Agent Steel. |

For something more relevant would be sludge metal which is inspired by both metal and punk, for example. https://youtube.com/watch?v=-Fi3UyF50Yc Quote:

Since we're straddling the metal/punk line already...
Off to see these dudes tonight! :) Couple of tracks to get in the mood. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CARwrLG5k3E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zXG0mdkV8g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0ukH_PxDms Sticky Filth - go the Naki! They've always been the punkest crew at the metal gig and the metallist crew at a punk gig ... ;) |
Please, go make a punk thread and stop derailing this thread. The stuff you posted is not remotely metal.

OK playlist created, it's here:
LQ Metal Music List Let me know if there are problems accessing it. I've included most of the stuff in this thread. If I've missed anything out, or if a user who submitted an album would prefer another track listed just let me know and I'll change it. Some artists weren't on Spotify, e.g. Thorns of the Carrion, Nightly Gale. |
