POST TO THREAD NOT RUDE COMMENTS:mad:

It's quite rude to not acknowledge or thank someone for posting an answer to your question, which has been done.

get off the caps lock key and cool down. Noone was rude to you---there was only a bit of speculation as to why you did not follow up.

You have now stated a different problem--I believe you first question was already answered.

Why not set up dual-boot??

Come on guys, let's be realistic here. The OP asked a question: how to remove Linux from a machine. acid_kewpie's very first reply was, in my opinion, a bit sarcastic in the very first line:

As if to say, "wow, what a stupid reason to remove Linux." It doesn't matter what reason the OP has to remove Linux. The OP wants to remove it. So tell the OP how to remove it. The rest of acid_kewpie's message should be an alternative to removal at the end of a message that details how to remove Linux.

PTrenholme gives an answer but takes a pot-shot at Windows at the end. What does that say? An insult to the OS that the OP has chosen to use (for whatever reason)? Would you particularly like it if you were going to rearrange the furniture in your house to the way you prefer and someone says "wow, that arrangement sucks, but it's your call."

Slantoflight then goes completely off-topic and decides to ponder the meaning and relevance of the word "need" as it relates to this thread.

Rudeness? Noooooooo. I don't see anything that could be considered rude there.

Oh wait, then everyone jumps on the high road with the complaint of "you never say thanks." Should we all perform a search of the forum threads to see if every user replying in this thread has said "thank you" in response to every thread they've started? I'll admit that I haven't said it in some of my threads, and I'm willing to bet most, if not all, are in the same boat.

Yes, all-caps is quite annoying to read. So the OP isn't without fault, but certainly not without cause.

We, unlike you Dark_Helmet, all gave solutions to the question at hand. All you did was to quote most of our replies. Some were even quoted out of context, losing the meaning. Basically, you are going against members and moderators of this forum to protect another member who barely posts here and when he/she does, the member does not even acknowledge replies, leave it alone answering questions that we ask to actually help him/her.

I wonder exactly what you are trying to accomplish with the most off-topic reply here in this already ruined thread (which by the way, could/should be closed by now).

It certainly was off-topic, no doubt. What was I trying to accomplish? Yes, defending a user that I believe is being treated unfairly. I'm starting to see that behavior from users more and more frequently, especially in general these days. When I originally joined, everything was extremely polite--even to the people that wanted to return to Windows.

Really? All gave solutions? acid_kewpie's post detailed how to remove Linux? slantoflight's post contained a solution somewhere in the reference to "need"? Yes, there were solutions posted. In fact, one of them by you. I did not feel the need to repeat the information, but to end the rudeness occurring on both sides. However, if posting a solution is required to contribute, here's one that has not been posted thus far:

Loretta59, you can download a rescue disk image here. I have not personally used it, but there should be a utility to restore the MBR to boot Windows automatically, and then you can use the disk manager to reclaim the partitions used by Linux and reformat them to FAT32 or NTFS.

And everyone else is characterizing this user based on two posts. That's not enough to pigeonhole someone.

Which quotes were taken out of context, and which do not accurately reflect the sentiment of the poster?

Regardless of what you think Mega Man X, I'm not trying to pick a fight. I have over 2,000 posts on this forum and I have seen, and appreciated many of your posts. I am simply pointing out that the OP did not deserve the insinuations received--that the responses could easily be taken as sarcastic, condescending, and rude. There was justification for the OP's response, and no justification for the follow-up.

acid_kewpie 02-25-2007 11:51 AM

right ok, any thread that disolves into squabbling isn't going to help the op who still hasn't returned btw.... closing this thread. if they wish to continue asking for help, they are best advise to start another new thread.
