This business of "benefits exceed risks" ... Wondering what is recorded risk/reward ratio (measured by recorded and attributed AFTER EFFECTS) for earlier vaccines/inoculations .. whatever you call it.

Not sure that it is worse for covid-19 vax.

Government here in Poland invented that slogan "benefits exceed risks" after the case of death of 40 year old teacher woman. She died two, three weeks after Astra-Zeneca shot. Blood cloths.

As a follow-up on Astra-Zeneca it is important to recognize it is not an mRNA vaccine like Moderna and Pfizer. Astra-Zeneca and Johnson & Johnson have more in common with traditional vaccines and employ another (dead) virus for delivery and recognition. Most experts recommend that anyone receiving either of those who for any reason need or desire a 2nd shot, even as a booster for variants, use a different brand and type, preferably an mRNA based brand. If any of those folks, the 96+% that didn't have a bad reaction, prefer to stay with what already was OK for them, follow-up shots now include a protein that apparently prevents that platelet reaction.

Lost credibility cannot be easily regained. Rational people need rational arguments.

Thanks. Right, not all conspiracy theories are crap. And not everything a liar says is a lie. After hearing too many lies, a person tends to not want to listen to a liar anymore. Same with conspiracy theories, especially when so often they seem to turn out to be nothing but crap.

Thanks for that link, hish2021 even though it started almost halfway in. I just scrolled back watched the entire podcast and then, because of it, I sought and watched the entire film "1971" which thankfully was free on YouTube. It reminded me of how bad things had gotten under Hoover and then poked me with how similarly well-intentioned but actually abusive at the very least by potential, the Patriot Act was and is.

I already knew actual conspiracies sometimes exist but also that they exist only so long as the conspirators are kept committed and/or their numbers are very small. The possibility of discovery goes up exponentially with every additional person who knows the conspiracy. It was striking that those that broke into the FBI office and got the goods on Cointelpro worked very hard to keep their numbers small, involving only 9 individuals until the statue of limitations ran out and public opinion changed. It was even more striking that the 9th person who got scared and bailed first off actually came to them to inform the 8 that did it that he was considering turning them in and that they still trusted him so greatly that they didn't overreact and do something stupid and instead let him leave. That one person could have blown the whole thing.

It is very important to remember that when we consider conspiracy. The only reason they could trust that 9th person to keep the secret was that a large part of him was still on the side of the other 8, and ready to trust they wouldn't lie to him and by contrast that the FBI then would. All it takes is one person less committed, let alone actively in opposition to a single aspect, like Ellsberg or Snowden, to blow the whistle, and the house of cards comes tumbling down..

Pay or not to pay. Discussion just started here in Poland. So let me ask you: how much are you willing to pay for anti-covid vaccine? Does $200 is acceptable?

Edit: I would say $1000 - let us prove we really care about our health and world. Bitter irony of course. But everyone can ask silently this question to yourself: do I really care so much to pay $1000 ?

Well, I didn't have to pay anything for my first AZ injection, nor will I have pay for my second; but about three weeks after the second I will be getting a shingles vaccine for which I will need to pay rather more than $200US because I don't yet qualify for a free one due to my age (and it DOES feel good to be too young).
