without the crash. But the situation has changed recently quite a bit with the rescue pigeon that I have: https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...539/page4.html So lots more feathers and dust easily explains this fast crash. From this point on, it will only get worse, just have to live with it. |

FREE E-Book: 1001 Ways to Make Money
http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/56006 This ebook above got me thinking, have you made money with old computers and IT stuffs ? How ? I haven't directly made money but used old computer to learn useful life hacks on the net. |

i don't consider it as "making money", more as re-joining the flow, plus: an investment is always partly funded by a previous sale, and is likely to return at least part of what was invested. i usually sell cheap enough to lose a little. that's ok because i do want to get rid of it. not so cheap though to be taken for a sap (because some think i'm gullible and start making ridiculously low offers). |
A contact of mine is throwing away over 15 older PCs, they cost lots of power, add to clutter, occupy valuable space and he has no more time for them. Guess sooner or later that time will come for an older PC to part ways.

Janus Linux had no GUI and for 64 bit systems is only 14Mb:
https://protonesso.github.io/janus/ https://github.com/protonesso/janus This user has made 840 or so contributions in the last year, very impressive: https://github.com/protonesso Wish Janus Linux was available for 32 bit systems also. Best Wishes to Janus Linux. |
Very nice Manjaro review:
http://www.linuxandubuntu.com/home/m...-linux-distros Yesterday I got Xenile Puppy 32 bit, the latest. Will try it later on in future sometime. https://www.diffen.com/difference/32-bit_vs_64-bit The site above is excellent to understand the differences between 32 bit and 64 bit. If one is into high end video, gaming, number crunching and needs special more security than 64 Bit is good. However, for most apps. etc., that I use at a personal level 32 bit is actually more than enough. The drawback being that in future lesser and poor support for 32 bit. One way around this might be perhaps to learn Linux From Scratch and make a custom 32 bit distro as needed. Hope I don't go this path but never know what the future holds. I very rarely see images am mostly happy with text, audio for this 32 bit is actually more than enough. Video skips a lot for youtube, normal video is ok when needed. I already have a 64 bit PC, so the transition may not be that hard. On a different note, retro PCs like the P2 etc., are going for a good sum on ebay. This is something to consider before throwing an older PC out first. |

In future the 32 bit systems will be like these it seems: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OD87tUYwOfo This might seem very unrelated but there might be some creepy stuffs in old computers so helps to be careful. Minimum it can be bugs and if you bring it home and just keep it around, your entire apartment/home or even building may get infested. |

first: this statement is only partly correct. second: it is going to take many, many years, i'd say decades, before people do not use any 32bit home computers anymore and they're'll be no linuxes for that either. |
