Winzip and ISPs and Support

Hello,

I'm a recent Windows convert looking to use Linux and have Fedora Core installed on my laptop. I have a few basic questions that I needed to find out because it just doesn't seem obvious for me and they are:

1) What utility can we use to download so that we can open up zip/Winzip files within Linux? I need to extract some files from a zip file and Linux Fedora doesn't recognize the file type and keeps asking me to open it with some application by asking "Open with..."

2) How can I hook up to the internet via Dial Up connection? I have AOL as an ISP but they don't make software for Linux so what's a Fedora user to do in order to connect to the Internet?

3) Unlike Windows, Technical Support for Linux and Fedora seem non-existent. I'd like to actually speak to someone knowledgeable of Linux and/or Fedora to pose these and other questions to. Does anyone have a phone number I can call?

4) Also, how easy is it to un-install Fedora from a laptop?

Please reply or reach me at stevengara1@yahoo.com with any answers.

Thanks,

Steve Gara

e.g. ark, which is a graphical archiver, which supports zip, too, and which is included with Fedora Core.

The command-line zip/unzip utility is available too. unzip file.zip

I'm not up-to-date on the state of PengAOL for Linux. Search the web for news.

For Internet connectivity, check out the redhat-config-network and read the documentation.

For general Linux support, search the web and look for free message boards, such as this one. For phone based support, you may need to look for commercial support or check out support packages as offered by Red Hat for their Enterprise Linux products.

To remove Fedora you would need to use a partition tool to remove or reformat your hard drive. You would almost definately be able to do this with any operating system you are installing in it's place, but you cannot remove Fedora like you can a Windows program. Fedora is an operating system, so when you remove it and change partitions etc. you WILL loose all data.
