How to backup my DHCP configuration?
Hello Friends,
I want to set up port forwarding on my DSL router and will need to specify a static ip. I want to use Azureus bit-torrent clinet and IRC so I need port forwarding. The last time I did this I set it up using the network configuration tool in Gnome (Desktop>System Settings>Network). The port forwarding was a success but a month later I needed to re-eable DHCP because of my Windows XP based laptop. When I tried to re-enable DHCP in Fedora, the settings would not work and I could not connect to the internet anymore. I was finally forced to reinstall Fedora 4 from scratch. I want to prevent this from happening again. How can I backup my DHCP configuration so I can revert back to it if need be? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
/etc/network/interfaces
I'm sure this is the file that you're needing to backup. I've never changed my network settings in a GUI.. I edit this file from CLI as root. |
Thanks Billy,
The port forwarding was a success and everything is working fine. I doubt I will go back to DHCP but i backed up the file you mentioned just in case. |
