install ssh on debian lenny 6
hello
i'm trying to setup an ssh server on a desktop pc running debian lenny 6, but when i try to install it aptitude shows a broken dependency on libkrb53 and the solution it suggests seems to delete a lot of programs like dolphin or kate etc. it shows a list of unresolved dependencies too i'm using debian 6 kde cd just as it installs, i wonder if this happens to other people, what can i do to solve that problem? i just need a ssh server running and maybe other common servers, thanks for your help! |
update
i tried to install apache 2 inc ssh on the same OS and it shows the same dependencies message for libkrb53 i don't knw what to do! |
You can start with telling us if you use Debian Lenny (which is version 5) or Debian Squeeze (which is version 6). There is no Debian Lenny 6.
After that, please post the exact commands you try and the exact output you get between code-tags (the #-button on top of the post-editor). |
hello
thanks for your reply here it is, it's shown in spanish but it's basically the same output thanks for your help Code:
root@debian:/home/server# uname -a |
Have you updated the package database first with
Code:
aptitude update |
yes of course currently it doesn't show any upgrade
|
Please post your /etc/apt/sources.list

|
ok this is it
Code:
|
So I see your problem: You are running Debian 6, codename Squeeze, but your sources list points to Debian 5, codename Lenny. Replace any lenny in that file with squeeze, update the database and try it again.

thank you i noticed that as soon as i posted, it's just that
i never saw the squeeze name on the uname commands thanks for your help guys you are great!!! |
