Debian 10 sound not working(asus vivobook s406ua)
Hello everyone, I am running dual system with Win10 and Debian 10, however, I've got trouble with the sound when running Debian 10. It was well-functioning when I just finishing the installation of Debian 10, however, after using for several days, I can get nothing from the built-in speaker and headphone, just some surge-like sound while it is well-functioning in Win10.
I have tried all the suggestion from the article https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ng-4175659373/ but in vain. I am running on Intel i5-8250U lspci | grep Audio 00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio (rev 21) lsmod | grep snd snd_soc_skl 114688 0 snd_soc_skl_ipc 73728 1 snd_soc_skl snd_soc_sst_ipc 16384 1 snd_soc_skl_ipc snd_hda_codec_hdmi 57344 1 snd_soc_sst_dsp 36864 1 snd_soc_skl_ipc snd_hda_ext_core 28672 1 snd_soc_skl snd_soc_acpi_intel_match 24576 1 snd_soc_skl snd_hda_codec_realtek 122880 1 snd_soc_acpi 16384 2 snd_soc_acpi_intel_match,snd_soc_skl snd_soc_core 253952 1 snd_soc_skl snd_hda_codec_generic 86016 1 snd_hda_codec_realtek snd_compress 24576 1 snd_soc_core snd_hda_intel 45056 4 snd_hda_codec 151552 4 snd_hda_codec_generic,snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec_realtek snd_hda_core 94208 7 snd_hda_codec_generic,snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_ext_core,snd_hda_codec,snd_hda_codec_ realtek,snd_soc_skl snd_hwdep 16384 1 snd_hda_codec snd_pcm 114688 7 snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_ext_core,snd_hda_codec,snd_soc_core,snd_soc_skl,snd_hda_cor e snd_timer 36864 1 snd_pcm snd 94208 18 snd_hda_codec_generic,snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_hwdep,snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec,snd_hda_codec_realtek ,snd_timer,snd_compress,snd_soc_core,snd_pcm soundcore 16384 1 snd 1 sink(s) available. * index: 0 name: <alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1f.3.analog-stereo> driver: <module-alsa-card.c> flags: HARDWARE HW_MUTE_CTRL HW_VOLUME_CTRL DECIBEL_VOLUME LATENCY FLAT_VOLUME DYNAMIC_LATENCY state: SUSPENDED suspend cause: IDLE priority: 9039 volume: front-left: 30008 / 46% / -20.35 dB, front-right: 30008 / 46% / -20.35 dB balance 0.00 base volume: 65536 / 100% / 0.00 dB volume steps: 65537 muted: no current latency: 0.00 ms max request: 0 KiB max rewind: 0 KiB monitor source: 0 sample spec: s16le 2ch 48000Hz channel map: front-left,front-right Stereo used by: 0 linked by: 0 configured latency: 0.00 ms; range is 0.50 .. 2000.00 ms card: 0 <alsa_card.pci-0000_00_1f.3> module: 6 properties: alsa.resolution_bits = "16" device.api = "alsa" device.class = "sound" alsa.class = "generic" alsa.subclass = "generic-mix" alsa.name = "ALC295 Analog" alsa.id = "ALC295 Analog" alsa.subdevice = "0" alsa.subdevice_name = "subdevice #0" alsa.device = "0" alsa.card = "0" alsa.card_name = "HDA Intel PCH" alsa.long_card_name = "HDA Intel PCH at 0xef228000 irq 127" alsa.driver_name = "snd_hda_intel" device.bus_path = "pci-0000:00:1f.3" sysfs.path = "/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.3/sound/card0" device.bus = "pci" device.vendor.id = "8086" device.vendor.name = "Intel Corporation" device.product.id = "9d71" device.product.name = "Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio" device.form_factor = "internal" device.string = "front:0" device.buffering.buffer_size = "384000" device.buffering.fragment_size = "192000" device.access_mode = "mmap+timer" device.profile.name = "analog-stereo" device.profile.description = "Analog Stereo" device.description = "Built-in Audio Analog Stereo" alsa.mixer_name = "Realtek ALC295" alsa.components = "HDA:10ec0295,10431ac0,00100002 HDA:8086280b,80860101,00100000" module-udev-detect.discovered = "1" device.icon_name = "audio-card-pci" ports: analog-output-speaker: Speakers (priority 10000, latency offset 0 usec, available: unknown) properties: device.icon_name = "audio-speakers" analog-output-headphones: Headphones (priority 9000, latency offset 0 usec, available: no) properties: device.icon_name = "audio-headphones" active port: <analog-output-speaker> Code:

Debian uses Pulse Audio. If you have not already done so, install the Pulse Audio Mixer (pavucontrol--it's in the repos).
It gives you much more granular control than typical volume control applications and may assist you in shooting this trouble. |
Quote:
Code:
david@debian:~$ pulseaudio Code:
$ rm -r -* |
^ why did you 'rm -r -*'???
:scratch: anyhow, pavucontrol is the mixer application that gives you pretty good control over your pulseaudio & audio hardware. |

Finally I "solved" the problem by shutdown the system and press the power button to start the system. I still find it difficult to check the problem out.
