Who Cares If Emacs Uses Escape Meta Alt Control Shift!

Well, who?;)

Emacs is the best, but vim is a good second.

menno8472, I kind of wish it would not use Meta, or at least not combined with Control. Not really a huge deal though since I can simulate Meta with Escape.

Gedit

I voted for Gedit because until recently it was what I used and I still think it is the best text editor out there. Although the problem is that it pulls in unwanted Gnome 3 dependencies on my system. Now I use a combination of Nano and Geany which serve the purpose just fine.

Text Editor

Gedit.

I was about to vote for NicoEdit but the most closely related to it was Nedit, which I don't know is the same, so decided for the next most valuable for me: vi.

Vim + Kate

cnd 02-01-2012 08:42 AM

vi / vim?

This is not fair to them - it should have been a single option, not 2 different ones...

indienick 02-01-2012 10:21 AM

Emacs, emacs, emacs ...

JohnV2 02-01-2012 11:33 AM

Lol, 'scared'. Kid, Vim wins for many years running now with 35-40% of the vote, compared to Emacs' paltry 7-8%.

Gedit normally, plus nano for command line work, never could get the hand of vi
