Although vi/vim will surely win the popularity contest. Otherwise, when it comes to actual text editing, there is NO contest... :D

WUAmin 01-07-2012 03:38 AM

gedit/nano

divyashree 01-07-2012 05:23 AM

Made me think... When I just want to edit a text (a story, an article) I use PyRoom.

vim for me when using command line but Sublime Text is my graphical text editor of choice

vim. Once you tame the beast :)
Geany is nice, too.

As Mark from Aark would say, nano nano...and Gedit/Kwrite!

LauMars 01-12-2012 08:07 AM

Kate (it's basically a multi-tab version of KWrite with plugin support) for GUI, Vi for CLI

It's a pity there isn't two polls to differentiate between text editors under different environments

For me, Geany provides the easy useability, and comfort I need for programming..Go Geany
