damantis 12-31-2004 12:27 AM

3, 2, 1 - Thunderbirds are go.
(to quote an old TV show)

reddazz 12-31-2004 01:15 AM

Evolution simply rocks for me at the moment.

scuzzman 12-31-2004 01:30 AM

T-Bird :D

J.W. 12-31-2004 01:46 AM

Evolution. The only nitpicking issue I have is the lack of a Next and Prev message button when you are reading an Email. -- J.W.

masand 12-31-2004 02:45 AM

fiefox+thunderbird

great internet experience

druuna 12-31-2004 04:45 AM

vharishankar 12-31-2004 04:47 AM

Why nobody uses Outlook ;)?

OK. I use Evolution. It's great!

I use 1.4.6 version of Evolution that has this feature of next and previous message

Slack happily!

ditto :P

mjjzf 12-31-2004 09:03 AM

The features in Evolution just make it such a great program package... the glitches in Evo 2.0 kind of disqualifies it for me, though. So Thunderbird's spam filter gets the prize, even if the inability to create multiple, drop-down choice signatures does subtract slightly.

halo14 12-31-2004 09:11 AM

This is a tough one.. I really like Evolution.. especially for corporate email.. connecting to exchange and whatnot.. I also like Thunderbird on both Windows and Linux.. I even converted my grandmother and grandfather to Thunderbird and they just love it.. Also, on slow computers, sylpheed has all the necessary features and none of the bloat... I have an old notebook that I've been toying around with.. (Pentium 200MMX, 32MB RAM, 3 GB HD) and with both VectorLinux 4.3 and DSL hd-install sylpheed runs pretty nicely...

davecs 12-31-2004 09:33 AM

What is the best? Who knows, they probably all work, and can all run Spamassassin for all I know.

I voted KMail/Kontact, simply because it integrates nicely with KDE.

xcon 12-31-2004 02:57 PM

I was on thunderbird for a few months and started seeing that it repeats some of Outlook's mistakes in order to appeal to Outlook users. Then I found out why KMail seemed broken all along, and fixed it, and am finally happy. Gee, do I wanna load QT and KDE libs or GTK2 and XUL? It's just as slow for me...

bpt 12-31-2004 08:34 PM

Gnus!!!

Lindlar 01-01-2005 05:09 AM

I use evoluation.
Mutt is --------------too ..........hard!

kesara 01-01-2005 05:16 AM

Both Evolution & KMail are great.
I use the best & i.e. KMail

bluesman2333 01-01-2005 08:47 AM

Kmail is what I use at the moment, but M2 really looks promising. Next year M2 should be smoking hot.

JackieBrown 01-01-2005 03:27 PM

Thunderbird because I use linux and windows. Use a fat32 drive and I can access my mail in either sys

mikedeatworld 01-01-2005 04:01 PM

evolution....

carmichaelbaby 01-01-2005 04:04 PM

evolution

evolution + hotwayd = more convenience than I deserve! :)

I also like "paste quotation" which wasn't in the earlier version
I used to use, but is there now.

I like the way it handles attachments, especially images.

There's lots more, but I need not write a novel.

thunderbird :)

paperboy 01-02-2005 05:15 AM

Favorite app for email

I use Kontact/KMail. Nicely integrated with KDE and has all the options I need for a clean machine!

uvramana 01-02-2005 05:52 AM

Thunderbird and pine.

bartonlp 01-02-2005 02:16 PM

Email and the web are two places I really do like a GUI interface. I like Thunderbird and Firefox because they work on Linux and Window$. Evolution and KMail are nice. Evolution is a lot more than just mail and while I do like it I don't use it much yet as I just don't need "contacts, calendar, todo" at this time. Actually Thunderbird has a nice extension for "calendaring" which I have been using a little.

I have SquirlleMail set up on my web server and use it a lot when I'm away from my own systems. It gives me a way to keep in touch from almost any system without having to create accounts in Outlook or Outlook-Express etc. SM is just always there for me: Linux, MS Windows, Mac -- anywhere I can get to a browser, even lynx or links.

amilcar 01-02-2005 03:15 PM

kmail is not the best but
I am just happy with it.
Evolution and T-bird are surely
more complete

tassietiger 01-02-2005 03:31 PM

thunderbird rules, and firefox is the best

physician97 01-02-2005 03:37 PM

thunderbird

and away...doc

Poprocks 01-02-2005 10:16 PM

Sylpheed. It's a very underrated email client that everyone should at least try. It's lightweight, fast as hell, and it gets the job done.

Ateo 01-03-2005 01:49 AM

How is squirrel mail a "mail client"?

Ruben2 01-03-2005 04:00 AM

thunderbird

RazorKnight 01-03-2005 04:21 AM

Gotta stick with pine or mutt, I like both.

cyberchuck 01-03-2005 12:58 PM

Evolution rocks! The Virtual Folder feature is fantastic. I have a "Today's EMAIL", "Last 7 days from <...mailing list...>", and "Last month" Vfolders that help to keep me (relatively) sane.

I hope the Virtual Folder concept spreads to Thunderbird and KDEMAIL .... when / if it does I'll probably vote for Thunderbird next time (cuz it is cross platform).

kenvandine 01-03-2005 01:01 PM

Thunderbird

Baldrick65 01-03-2005 02:47 PM

Thunderbird has to be a clear-cut winner

Baldrick

Poprocks 01-03-2005 04:17 PM

Judging by the comments it sounds like Thunderbird might win it this year... hmm, I like T-bird, but I've never really thought it to be all that special.

There are faster & better clients out there IMHO.

tamoneya 01-03-2005 04:25 PM

thunderbird

support mozilla
Down with micro$oft

hutuworm 01-03-2005 08:35 PM

Thunderbird 1.0, I like the integration.

vectordrake 01-03-2005 10:13 PM

What, telnet's not on the list?;);)
If I used a mail client (webmail all the way, baby!), I'd probably use kmail/Kontact again.

sourav 01-04-2005 01:47 AM

I use KMail. I don't know whether it is the best, but it does my job pretty well.
