My center speaker does not ring

Good staff ...
would have helped me solve my problem, I have a set of 5.1 speakers and the center speaker does not ring, my sound card is a Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Platinum.

I thank you your answers ...

Tell us more. What distro/version (I'm guessing Ubuntu from your user agent icon, but that sometimes misleads).

What are your mixer settings and do they display an item for the center speaker?

My distro is Ubuntu 14.04LTS Trusty Tahr and the mixer settings for the center speaker are on maximum volume.

This thread from the Ubuntu forums might help. It regards an earlier version of Ubuntu and I have no way of testing it, but it's worth a look.
