IS it easy to install openoffice 2 beta on ubuntu
Is it easy to install the openoffice 2 BETA on Ubuntu, and what about Ubuntu x86_64?
Any info wud be great, Buck |
Tried reading the OpenOffice.org site? They provide instructions for installing the rpms under a Debian system: http://installation.openoffice.org/s...=dev&msgNo=609 and since Ubuntu is Debian based, the instructions should still work for it.

Just add the following to your sources.list then use Synaptic to install
#OpenOffice.org 2.0beta deb http://debian.tu-bs.de/project/kanotix/ooo-kanotix/ ./ Or: # Process OpenOffice.org Writer Files and transform them to PDF without # installing OpenOffice.org deb http://zweistein12.dyndns.org/pub/debian/pyopenoffice/ ./ The second one has Ubuntu ports of OO2: openoffice.org2 1.9.79.2-0ubuntu2 (i386) openoffice.org2-calc 1.9.79.2-0ubuntu2 (i386) openoffice.org2-common 1.9.79.2-0ubuntu2 (all) openoffice.org2-core 1.9.79.2-0ubuntu2 (i386) openoffice.org2-debian-files 1.9.76-0ubuntu1 (all) openoffice.org2-draw 1.9.79.2-0ubuntu2 (i386) openoffice.org2-evolution 1.9.79.2-0ubuntu2 (i386) openoffice.org2-gnome 1.9.79.2-0ubuntu2 (i386) openoffice.org2-impress 1.9.79.2-0ubuntu2 (i386) openoffice.org2-kde 1.9.79.2-0ubuntu2 (i386) openoffice.org2-l10n-en-us 1.9.79.2-0ubuntu2 (all) openoffice.org2-math 1.9.79.2-0ubuntu2 (i386) openoffice.org2-writer 1.9.79.2-0ubuntu2 (i386) |

What about if I'm running Ubuntu x86_64? Will that affect it, as it seems to affect everything else

Uncommenting the repositories already contained in /etc/apt/sources.list will allow you to install OpenOffice.org2 beta through Synaptic
