Changing Default App
Hi,
I would like it if everytime I opened an MP3 file, instead of having it open in Audacity, I would like it to open in Real Player. I would like another music app but they don't seem to be able to get the different bitrates. ALSO I would like to know how to get my "taskbar" back. Ever since I played with this one application nothing seems to go up there. However, all the other users on the computer have a taskbar. |
Assuming you're using Ubuntu (and not Kubuntu or Xubuntu), right-click an MP3 (any MP3), go to Properties > Open With and make sure RealPlayer has a blackened circle next to it.
For the taskbar, press Alt-F2 and type Code:
gnome-panel |
Well, Real Player doesn't have a little black circle next to it. And I don't know how to get it there.
Yup, I'm running standard Ubuntu, with Gnome. Also, it said the gnome-panel was already running. But, when I open gaim, the little taskbar icon doesn't appear up there. I think it might be thinking KDE for somereason or another. But, I don't know where it'd get that. |
Easy as eating chips.

Alright ctkroeker, just HOW DO I DO WHAT I WANT???

Sorry... wrong answer. (Stupid Smile)
right-click on the file and click properties, then click on the Open with tab, then make a screenshot and load it on a webserver and post the link here, so we can see whats up. |

Thank you much!!!
As it turns out, I was looking in the wrong menu. I've also gone with XMMS Music Player. I like the way its "docked" to the screen. I've also gotten that up there. There's all my icons!!! It also turns out I have software updates avalible. |
