Guys, I need email address of a person maintaining suse buildservice repos. It's quite urgent and I can't find it anywhere :/ I tried mailing to webmaster@opensuse.org, but they don't seem to maintain repos.

tlarkin 12-14-2006 05:25 PM

I installed YUM on my suse 10.2 laptop and YUM can not get any respositories online at all. I used apt and yum in 10.1 with out any problems what so ever? Suggestions?

This url is important to keep suse uptodate.

Ok, I'll ask the question again. How should I report to suse guys, that something is wrong with the repos, for example some packages are missing? Can't find any email adress or something, only suse mailing lists, but that doesn't seem to be the right place.

I would suggest, in answer to you restated question, that you join #opensuse-buildservice (FYI, I use Kvirc and connect via the irc.freenode.net server on port 6667). From my observations there, this would appear to be the place that those who package, mirror (packman and guru) and upload their patches and fixes for a variety of architectures come together.

Otherwise, there is the opensuse-buildservice mailing list that you can find at: http://lists.opensuse.org/archive/ if you scroll down a bit - I would suggest that you do some reading and searching there to see if you specific issues have already been addressed, or not, before making a post to the mailing list.

Hope this helps.

Happy Christmas

Yes minrich, it helps. Thanks.

I enabled everything in YAST and in YUM and for some reason it will not freaking work, but on my 10.1 desktop it works with out a hitch!!!!!

Anyways I'll tinker with it later on when i have time since I only have 10.2 on my laptop. If I can figure out exactly why my config won't work I'll post an answer.

(I'm hoping this hasn't been asked before, but...)

I'm running openSuse 10.2, and I'm trying to add repositories via zypper. This is what I get:
Code:

userName:~ # zypper sa ftp://spike.fa.gau.hu/pub/pmppc102/
3038 zmd
ZENworks Management Daemon is running.
WARNING: this command will not synchronize changes.
Use rug or yast2 for that.
Determining ftp://spike.fa.gau.hu/pub/pmppc102/ source type...
.. not YUM
.. not YaST
Unknown source type for ftp://spike.fa.gau.hu/pub/pmppc102/

I get this kind of error whether I try to use zypper, the "Install programs" application, or YaST2. I'm using an iBook G4, which means the PPC architecture, but I've had this problem on other architectures, as well. Anyone know why this is happening?

Cleaned-

I use rug now on Suse for repository installs via terminal command line now. It just works better, never really tried with zypper that much.

Thanks, I'm trying rug now, but I get this error (yes, I'm not very good at all this)

Code:

computername:~ # rug --subscribe http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/openSUSE-stable/repo/oss/
ERROR: Argument '--subscribe' is invalid

This is the argument I found in the man page - could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Maybe you need to find a more suitable mirror. Have a look at these links for addresses:

any repo got Skype?

terryxela 12-27-2010 09:08 AM

skype install

Tigerlinux,

you do not need an rpm, skype is a plain binary. Here the steps

1. DL the skype STATIC for linux this is key because of qt included.

2. be sure you run it from the same directory ++

3. you can create a menu entry. Mark the path directory where the binary is located as the working directory.

If any problem posted.
