Now not even the standard update program works. Needless to say.....Novel has really screwed the pooch on their update system.

It looks like Smart has had a labotomy. I need to re-install it again.......Nothing is working! :(
|
How so? What EXACTLY are you seeing?

warringlion@linux-whtf:~> su
Password: linux-whtf:/home/warringlion # smart update Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/smart", line 27, in ? from smart import init, initDistro, initPlugins, initPsyco ImportError: No module named smart linux-whtf:/home/warringlion # |
Did you add or remove something in Python? Reinstall smart and probably phython as well.

It has the error about not being on the media when trying to install smart though yast. Oh, by the way....Thanks for helping me.
|
I have Smart up and running again....in case you didn't catch it in the other thread I started. It seems like a good solution. Thanks for recommending it.

I have discussed this with Gustavo Niemeyer (the developer of smart) and he says to Run "python" and type "import smart"
I have carried the discussion here; http://forums.suselinuxsupport.de/in...5&#entry180365 |
Great! Thanks, Linux Learner. I'll check it out.
In the meantime......I updated via yast and when I went to boot up the next day, only text prompt. So, I did Smart update/upgrade and rebooted....I got my GUI back. Could it be that I had let YAST update last time this happened and blamed it on Smart? I think it is about time I put this thread to bed. I'm going to jump over to Linux/Hardware section and see if they can help me solve yet another problem. It seems that my machine has an issue in both Linux and windows where the mouse clicks are messed up. Whenever I left click on something it tends to double click on me. Thanks again for all your help concerning the Suse issue. I am back to feeling good about using Linux and laughing at Windows, which is how it should be. |
