Where is APM in kernel 2.6.23.9??
My old Pentium 1 is running Slackware 12 just fine. It uses APM to go into a suspend mode. I've been compiling kernels for it for a year and a half with relatively no problems till now....where is the APM setting in kernel 2.6.23.9? I'm using make menuconfig and looking under power setup. I see ACPI and APM listed but there is no selection for APM. I compiled the kernel and now it won't use APM.

If you don't see any selections under the APM BIOS support selection, I think you might need to enable the "Prompt for development and/or incomplete code/drivers" selection. All of the APM selections are marked as "New", in 2.6.23.9
I dunno why ;) Edit: well I turned off that setting in my menuconfig and was still able to see all of the APM selections... you don't see them? |

Got it...I had Suspend to RAM and standby unchecked. Checking it makes the APM options appear. |
I'm testing Slackware Current (12.1) and am compiling a new kernel. In the menuconfig Power Management Options (ACPI, APM) there is no submenu for APM. Only ACPI.
The "Prompt for development and/or incomplete code/drivers" in the General setup section is enabled. I created the config file using make oldconfig with my 2.6.21.5 config file. Where is the APM support cleverly hidden in 2.6.23.12? |
