Pat usually grabs imagemagick himself occasionally, so I don't ever do anything with it. If you confirm that octave is fine with the upgrade though, it's probably worth a mail to him.

I just finished trying to compile octave with the latest imagemagick. It's less broken than before, but it's still broken -- my guess is that they're mixing C and C++ in incompatible ways :(

Not trying to venture off topic but are there any packages that are going out to pasture this round, and any votes or vetos on what could be sent to pasture?

I'll vote for sending libtermcap to pasture. This requires rebuilding the few packages that use it to use ncurses/terminfo instead.

I think perhaps out-to-pasture should be another thread? ;)

It'd be nice if we had both Python 2.x and 3.x available on the installation media. Yes, I know you can get 3.x from SBo (that's what I'm doing right now). Also, I know there was another thread for requests like this, but I can't find it right now.

Just to clarify that list, SDL-1.2.x and SDL2-2.0.x are entirely separate libraries.

xfsprogs has significant code contributions for the next version of XFS. It's been run through xfstests by me but on git kernels. Production use of it is with kernel 3.10.63 and an upgraded Slackware 14.0. Regular home use with kernel 3.18.1 and slackware-current is starting. Test use with git kernels is always ongoing on x86.

Someone might keep xfsprogs v3.2.2 along with slackware-current and its 3.14.x kernel for a while to be sure everything works as expected. If nothing else, xfsprogs strives to work with quotas for the current XFS and the next XFS. The difference here is that currently, group and project quotas are shared; they are separate in the next XFS. This next XFS was declared as supported and production for kernel 3.15 but is not the default filesystem made by mkfs.xfs yet.

In short, think of it as a little more than a version bump. Regular users might spot-check things, especially xfs_repair. Quota users might spot-check things a little more, especially xfs_quota.

"termcap-compat_1.2.3.tar.gz ", the version that comes with Slackware, works fine. It has for a long time.

I don't believe that the source for this comes from "http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/termcap/". The name of the source file is different: "termcap-compat" as opposed to "termcap". Even though the slack-desc file states that it is the "GNU termcap library". Strange. But anyways ...

The real problem is that "/etc/termcap" sorely needs an update.

Please use vbcode tags when you must post long list(s). Easier to move through thread and is cleaner. I suggest that your long list should have been within code(# top right of reply window) tags. The user/member would then have been provided with a window with scroll bar in the post.
